After weeks of speculation, Apple has released iOS 7.1 for the iPhone 4, 4S, 5 and 5S along with the iPad and iPod Touch.The update resolves a significant bug that soft reset iOS devices when being used related to the operating system and iOS 7.1 also adds support for CarPlay, as previously announced last week.
The update also tweaks the behavior of a wide range of functions, such as the ability to control Siri manually by pressing and holding the home button as well as gaining more natural-sounding voice banks for Chinese, UK English, Australian English, and Japanese languages. iTunes Radio is also further improved with the new placement of the search bar, and the ability to buy albums directly from the Now Playing screen.
The Calendar app gains the ability to display events in the month view, as well as views for country-specific holidays. Accessibility has also been improved with a bold font option, and the Reduce Motion function now applies to more apps and operating system actions, including weather and messages along with application usage. iOS 7.1 also adds new HDR camera tools, improves iCloud Keychain support, automatically clears FaceTime calls, improves Touch ID on the iPhone 5s, improves overall performance of the iPhone 4, and provides other user interface fixes.
